Creation in Biology Class

Posted by Moriah on October 17, 2008

I am taking a Freshman Comp. class at college this semester, and we were told to write an argumentative essay of our choice. This is what I wrote and submitted to my teacher for the grade.

Millions of years ago, human beings evolved from some primordial soup. This belief is held and taught in biology classes across the globe today. But there is another side of the story that we are not taught, and that is creationism. Creationism is the belief that Almighty God created the universe, earth, and everything therein in 6 literal days, and rested on the 7th. Creationism should be taught and tolerated in public school biology classes throughout the world today because it is a belief like evolution and it is also a science.

Elementary to college age students have been told that the school system is tolerant towards all personal beliefs. Why then is Creationism an exception to that statement? It is as if the school system is saying we are tolerant of all, except Christian beliefs. Claiming toleration of all, but only be tolerant of some is not toleration at all. If the school system was all that concerned about being tolerant, then they would consider allowing creationism to be taught in their biology classes.

Many teachers and college professors would argue that creationism is a Christian belief, and therefore should not be taught in the school system. But isn’t evolution a belief as well? Evolution is taught in our classes as a fact, but the teachers and professors do not have any solid proof that what they state is fact. A scientific fact is something that can be tested over and over, and never change. By this definition, evolution becomes a hypothesis or belief.

One might say that creationism has no part in biology class because it is not science. But this statement is false. When people speak of creation in a biology class they are dealing with how a type of animal came to be. How an animal began is an intricate part of biology. Unfortunately, all our students are ever taught is an evolutionistic point of view.

As a building tells of a builder, so Creation tells of a Creator. What we see around us couldn’t have happened by some random chance. It isn’t possible.

Psalm 9:1- “Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth.” (KJV)

Psalm. 139:14- “I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” (NKJ)

Psalm 104:24
What a wildly wonderful world, God! You made it all, with Wisdom at your side, made earth overflow with your wonderful creations. Oh, look—the deep, wide sea, brimming with fish past counting, sardines and sharks and salmon. Ships plow those waters, and Leviathan, your pet dragon, romps in them. All the creatures look expectantly to you to give them their meals on time. You come, and they gather around; you open your hand and they eat from it. If you turned your back, they’d die in a minute— Take back your Spirit and they die, revert to original mud; Send out your Spirit and they spring to life— the whole countryside in bloom and blossom.
(The Message)

Creationism is a Christian belief that deals with how our universe began, and should have a part in our biology classes across the globe today. If the public school system wants to be truly tolerant of all beliefs, then they should give creationism a part in our biology classes.

Genesis vs. Evolution

Posted by Moriah on July 12, 2007

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” –Genesis 1:1
With this said, why do we have such a problem with believing that God is truly the one who created everything?
In the belief of Evolution we are told that we evolved from an ape, and before that we came from this primordial soup. If this is true then why aren’t all apes evolving into men? Where is this missing link?
The answers are simple. In fact they are so simple that a little child could understand them. These answers are found in the Bible. In the Bible we’re told that God created the heavens and the earth, and that he made man in His image. (Genesis 1:1, 27) Once He made man, God then formed the woman Eve out of Adam’s rib.
So now you know that God created man and woman. We didn’t evolve from some ape after a billion years. Therefore there can be no missing link.
The fact that the Evolution theory changes yearly is a dead give away that it’s impossible to have occurred. It just doesn’t add up.
In Creation everything makes sense. We have the Creator who created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. (Genesis 1-2:2)
Some people have the idea that one day in Genesis means so many years. This belief is called the ‘Apparent Age Theory’. This theory is false. “In Genesis 1, yom comes with “evening” and “morning”, and is modified by a number. So it’s obvious that the Hebrew text is describing a 24-hour day.” –Jonathan Sarfati, Answers in Genesis Creation Magazine
Another thing that some people believe is that sure God created the world but He let it continue on all by itself. What I mean by this is that the world just sustains itself. Well if the world just sustained itself then there would be no need for God anymore. The Bible tells us that God is always watching over us and He has everything in control. (Matthew 6:26-30)
