My Testimony

c.jpg Jesus Christ has adopted me into His family, and has saved me from a life of sin.
My name is Moriah Lawson, and this is a testimony of how God has saved and adopted a wretched sinner bound for Hell.
I wasn’t a good little kid, and I didn’t grow up in a Christian home. But through it all Christ be glorified.
At the age of 4, my biological father left my mom, younger brother, and I. We were alone, and without anyone to care for us. My mom found herself a new boyfriend, and because we desired a new family so much; we began to call him Dad.
Not long after our new dad moved in with us; we all moved from North Tulsa to Washington State, and then down to California. Both parents drank and did drugs, and there were several times that my parents wouldn’t come home till morning. I became the make-shift mom so to speak at 6 years old.
We were always on the move because my parents couldn’t pay the bills, and so we were kicked out of the apartments. We moved from shelter to shelter, and because of this I didn’t have much of an opportunity to attend school. Before the age of 13 I had never been in school a whole year.
My family and I finally moved back to Oklahoma in 2000, but that didn’t help things at all. We lived with my step dad’s parents, and we started attending Glenpool Public School. I wanted love and acceptance, and following after my parents was the only way I knew.
By the time 6th grade came around, life was worse then before. My parents were kicked out the house again, and DHS was threatening to take us away. I got into unhealthy relationships with people and I had thoughts of suicide. Life seemed to be unbearable. By the end of 6th grade, I wanted either to run away or end it all.
It was during all of this that my aunt and uncle started having us over to spend the night and weekends with them. There was something different about them. They didn’t cuss, yell, drink, or smoke. They showed my 2 younger brothers and I love; something we didn’t see much growing up.
On one of these days my aunt asked me if we wanted to come live with them. I emphatically said yes, and that was the day that life started to change drastically. My aunt and uncle received legal guardianship of us, and we became a part of their family. At the time we didn’t realize that we had been adopted. My parents did this as a way to show what God does for us.
Living with my new parents was a lot different then living with grandma or even my other parents. Through my new parents; God started to work on my hard, hurting heart. God’s word began to sink into my heart; my parents love for God helped me to understand who God is and what He had done for me.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) I had sinned against God, and was bound for Hell. But “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) I learned that God loved me so much that He sent His one and only Son to come to earth, die a sinner’s death, and rise from the grave just so I can be with Him one day. Jesus Christ gave the ultimate sacrifice of His life because He loves me.
I also learned “whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13). So one night while lying in bed I called on the Name of the Lord, and He adopted me into His Spiritual family.
My life started to drastically change. I don’t want to follow the world. I want to serve the Lord, and give Him my all.
Since the time that I accepted Christ, God has given me a love for children. He’s given me a desire to want to reach out and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with kids who don’t know Jesus Christ or what He can do for them.
I am incredibly thankful for what the Lord did for everyone on this planet. I am thankful that Jesus has saved me from a life of sin, and my continual prayer is that I would continue to grow in a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank-you for your time.

(I would encourage you to check out the other testimonies on this blog, and if you would like to submit your own testimony; just shoot me your testimony by email. Thanks and God bless!)

thank you for posting this. Jesus Christ is amazing, yet we tend to neglect him so many times when he holds the key to our happiness!

Thanks Aubrie! All you would need to do is type up what you want to say, copy and paste it to an email, and send it to revitalize_our_youth@yahoo.com. I will then post it up on the website under “More Testimonies”.
OR you could just bring me a printed copy when I see you at church on Wed. or Sun. (whichever works better for you) =)

Thanks for sharing your testimony! I, too, have a passion for reaching young people and helping them come to know and grow closer to God. I attended my first Battle Cry and Aquire the Fire events this year and was just amazed at the amount of young people who aren’t afraid to publicly live their lives for Christ. It’s so awesome!
